I have no running water
landlord tenant attorney Nebraska Oct 27, 2026
Location: Omaha, Nebraska Hello!! So on Sunday Oct 4th at about 3am my apartments fuse box exploded. I live in a house turned apartments and there are 3 units total. We found out that our main sewer line was leaking and had leaked into our fuse box. That Sunday we had no power and on monday the electrician came in and gave us our power back all of the tenants got a notice to not use water as it is still leaking and that the plumber was coming to fix it. The plumber did not come fix it, they didn't "fix" the issue until Thursday Oct 15th. And i put fix into quotations because nothing was fixed and we actually had the plumber come in today (oct 26th). They told me that since my unit has access to the main pipe that they would have to remove my toilet and cut a hole in my wall and remove the leaking pipe. I have no running water nor do I have a toilet. I was not given a hotel room to accommodate for the fact I have no running water. My lease is up at the end of November and I have another apartment set up to move into but I feel like after everything that's happened I shouldn't have to pay rent or I should sue. What would be the best option in this scenario? I have screenshots of when they sent out text alerts but that honestly is about it.
