Location: Missouri. Obviously Missouri is an at-will state so I know this is a long shot. However I just got fired from my job today and it was most definitely in retaliation. There have been multiple instances where I have been harassed by both my boss and his son for my race. One time, his son (who is also employed with the company) brought a guitar to work, and he learned how to play that Indian song that is often used on social media to make fun of us. He sat in front of me and played this song multiple times for about 10 minutes straight. I requested him to stop multiple times and he did not. Eventually my boss came over and began laughing at the fact that his son was playing the song, saying that s funny. There was another instance where an Indian man came into the store looking at a car. After he left, my bosses son said to me, was that your dad? I told him I didn’t find that funny and asked him to please stop, but this only made him repeat the joke to his father and they again both laughed. In June of 2026, I came to work with my hair in two braids, and my boss told me you look like Sacagawea. I just stared at him blankly and didn t respond, as the comment made me uncomfortable. When I didn t laugh, he then repeated it to multiple of the sales people, who in turn all began laughing at me. Additionally, another employee made comments about my race that made me uncomfortable and my coworker messaged my boss about it, to which my boss then called the coworker and told her that back in his day it was normal to joke like that and that it s not a big deal. While reporting this harassment as well as unfair treatment among employees to HR, I was instructed to document everything I could. For context this past week I was out of work with the flu. A coworker of mine texted me saying that another coworker told our boss that I had been reporting him to HR. The day I returned to work, which was today, I was terminated due to “negativity” and the fact I “don’t listen to my boss” (neither of these have ever been an issue in the past) I also have a multitude of text messages, images, written statements, audio recordings, etc. of the pure hypocrisy and discrimination I’ve faced. My boss also has a completely inappropriate relationship with a young female worker, and it is my belief that he panicked when he realized I knew about it and was also reporting that which also led to my termination.
