“Fighting for the Underdog”. The theme of my life has been a determination to fight for the underdog. My work is a natural extension of that theme and fulfills me every day. I value hard work above most other things in my life. I often find myself preoccupied with how to fix a client’s problem or how to fix ERISA on a larger scale. Helping clients with disabilities became a personal mission of mine after seeing my father, a disabled veteran, struggle to work and support his family while dealing with the consequences of debilitating medical conditions. I like to think I got from him my strong work ethic, compassion, and desire to serve. I also value taking advantage of every opportunity for personal growth and am always looking for a way to become a better person. Running a business and raising children in a busy city is all consuming, but I am as happy as I’ve ever been, and wouldn’t have it any other way. For fun and relaxation, I enjoy the ritual of Peloton or a hike in the mornings so that I can start work with a clear head and ready to face the challenges that may lie ahead. I also try to practice mindfulness throughout the day, which helps me stay calm in stressful situations. At the end of the day, I enjoy listening to music on Spotify, a book on Audible, or a podcast. In addition to fighting for my clients, I volunteer with the Federal Bar Association, the Legal Aid at Work Workers’ Rights Clinic, and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel. I hope to show my kids by example that giving to others is the best way to lead a life of fulfillment.

Michelle Reynolds

Firm: THE Legal Advocate

Practice Areas: Employment & Labor
Anybody who knows me, knows my passion for the law. The fact is I love it! I love the challenge of solving a client’s problem, which not only entails legal, but also often emotional, financial, and even social consequences to consider as well. And what I love about law most is when justice truly prevails due to my client, me, opposing counsel, and our arbitrator, mediator, and/or judge adhering to the ideals of a system.. This passion transcends my practice in (1) Employment Development Department (EDD) Appeals, whether I am representing a claimant or employer for/against the award of Unemployment Insurance benefits; (2) an employer during a petition for Reassessment or a Claim for Refund for state employment taxes; (3) a client for Labor Code violations such as minimum wage, overtime, meal and rest breaks, and untimely payment of compensation brought before California's Labor Commission, the federal Department of Labor (DOL), or an arbitrator or court of competent jurisdiction. Whether a Private Attoney General Act (PAGA) action or a workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or wrongful termnation case, I am truly blessed to represent the California employees and employers that have trusted me to represent them..
