Location: California I’m located in CA and recently applied to an upstairs apartment on 8/4/26. The next day I was told we were approved and that I needed to come in to drop off a $1,000 “deposit” which I thought was a security deposit. I was trying to put my baby to sleep so my husband dropped it off. Turns out he signed a paper stating it was a holding deposit & that we would be charged if we backed out of renting it. The apartment is currently being renovated so it won’t be ready until mid Sept. We had originally wanted a downstairs unit since we have a small child and two weeks after paying our deposit the manager let us know we could view a downstairs apartment that had just become available. When we viewed it, it was so small and outdated compared to the upstairs unit. She then pointed out that my son may make noise that could bother the downstairs neighbors, we tested the noise level and agreed. It’s not a good fit after all, we told her we changed our mind and today she texted us saying they would be keeping the full amount plus more. She then offered to deduct $500 off first months rent and to offer a 6 month lease instead of 12 so that we wouldn’t “loose the deposit”. Location: California. So about 2 months ago now i was using my buddies vehicle who has a concealed carry license. The car is in his name because it belongs to him. The firearm was in a hidden safe in the bottom of the center console. I guess it was a false bottom. The safe had a biometric fingerprint type thing to gain access to the items inside as well as a PIN code, which I didn’t/don't know. So when I got pulled over it was for window tints. I am searchable because I’m on PRCS for felon in possession of a firearm, which I understand looks bad in this scenario. However it is what it is. I can’t change the past and for this charge right here I am an innocent man in the sense that it's not my firearm and I had no knowledge of the thing being in the car. So when they searched the vehicle they did a real thorough search and after like an hour of sitting in the cop car they came to me and asked me what the code was for the safe. I was confused at first and when they made it clear what they were asking, I told them I don’t know anything about any safe anywhere. Recently let go after 90 day probationary completed, outside salaried sales position with additional money to be paid for securing signed contracts from new customers. Company committed to pay a % of the sales upon completion of the work at these locations Jobs at new locations can take weeks or months to complete and for the all the costs to reconciled before money is paid out to sales personnel. Typically not a problem if your going to stay and be hired on. It seems that predatory hiring and firing of sales staff is not unusual for this company and have located several others who were also let go after landing contracts and upon completion of their probationary period. No reason given for dismissal No mention of additional money owed ? Has this company found a loophole in the system whereby they are able to keep the commissions for jobs? How are these moneys reported and accounted for ? Is the money due kept by the owner? At some point they had to account for the expenditures of each of these jobs is the money used to offset the labor cost for probationary employees ?. is this something I should pursue ? is it a class action suit because of additional persons ? with whom should I speak ? Location: California We own a single-family rental in California. The tenants’ original lease began in 2023 and did not include the AB 1482 single-family home exemption notice. In 2025, after that lease ended, we hired a property manager. They issued a new lease/addendum that did include the AB 1482 exemption language. Our property manager is now telling us that because the exemption notice was missing from the original 2023 lease, the tenancy is still subject to AB 1482. Since we plan to sell the property and remove it from the rental market, they are saying we have to provide one month of rent as relocation assistance, or waive the final month’s rent. My questions are: Does adding the AB 1482 exemption notice in a later lease or renewal make the property exempt going forward, or does the missing notice in the original lease mean the continuous tenancy remains covered by AB 1482? The tenants have also been chronically late with rent for most of the tenancy, often paying after the 12th when rent is due on the 1st, and we have written late-payment notices. Could that repeated pattern support an at-fault just-cause termination under Civil Code § 1946.2, even if they eventually paid each month? We are planning to sell the property and are trying to understand whether a no-fault termination with relocation assistance is really our only option.

Location: California Here’s my situation. I put in my two weeks notice at my previous employer with my last day being the 11th of August. I had a shift scheduled the 9th in which I called off sick and my boss said hey want me to use sick hours and let’s make today your last day. I said sure given the fact that there was no point in continuing since I was starting my new job already. Thing is I never got paid those sick hours, I even have texts from my boss showing she said she was gonna put in my hours of sick time. I guess my question is I know I can file a claim but will I get paid penalties for that time? I know California treats sick time different than earned time. Should I file just for the missing sick hours or also penalties, anyone can provide clarification thank you
