Scott Tillett co-founded Pine Tillett Pine LLP in 2016. Mr. Tillett was named to the Super Lawyers 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Southern California Rising Stars list, a selection shared by no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state. Previously, Mr. Tillett was an associate attorney with Pine & Pine from 2014 through 2015, handling civil appellate matters. Prior to joining Pine & Pine, Mr. Tillett focused his practice on class actions, including wage and hour, product liability, and consumer fraud litigation, in addition to handling individual employment, personal injury, and product liability actions at both the federal and state level.. Mr. Tillett received his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law in 2010. During law school, Mr. Tillett externed for the Honorable Judith C. Chirlin of the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Honorable Florence Marie Cooper of the United States District Court. Mr. Tillett was also a member of the USC Law, Review of Law and Social Justice, where he authored a note on the safety of pediatric off-label antidepressant prescription practices, which was published in 2010.. Mr. Tillett has exclusively practiced appellate law since 2014 and has handled numerous civil appeals, dealing with complex legal issues involving employment, business litigation, defamation, clergy-penitent privilege, child molestation, excessive force, wrongful death, class actions, trusts and estates, arbitration, government immunity, and land use. Along with his partner, Norman Pine, Mr. Tillett serves as an Associate Editor of Advocate, supervising the annual “Employment Law” issue. Mr. Tillett serves on the California Employment Lawyers Association's (CELA) Education Committee and he is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), and the Appellate Courts Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA).. Mr. Tillett received his Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from Chapman University, where he was the lab manager for Dr. William Wright, presented at the Neuroscience Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006, and was published in the Journal for Neuroscience in 2010.. Mr. Tillett has authored articles for the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles publication, ADVOCATE, on the Private Attorney's General Act (May 2019), whistleblower protections (May 2018), the disentitlement doctrine (December 2017), and arbitration enforcement (June 2015). Mr. Tillett is qualified to practice in California.

I'm an appellate attorney. My unique background helps me win post-trial motions, writs, and appeals for clients ranging from banks, to insurers, to developers, to other businesses and individuals, in all areas of civil litigation.. Before joining GMSR, I clerked for Judge Paul J. Watford at the Ninth Circuit, where I honed my writing skills and saw up close how judges decide cases. My writing about the law has appeared in Law360, The Business Lawyer, UCLA Law Review, and UCLA’s Journal of Law and Technology. I graduated first in the class from the UCLA School of Law.. But before I became a lawyer, I was a professor of music theory, most recently, on a tenure track at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Indeed, I have yet to encounter a legal problem more daunting than music theory at its most arcane.
