Sec. 7.
The department or the department of state police may inspect or examine any motor vehicle or facility operated by a motor carrier, or conduct investigations, audits, or compliance reviews as necessary to determine compliance with this act and the uniform program, or to determine eligibility for registration or permitting under this act and the uniform program.
The department or the department of state police may inspect and electronically reproduce any papers, books, records, documents, or other evidentiary material necessary to determine if a motor carrier is complying with this act and the uniform program, or to determine eligibility for registration or permitting under this act and the uniform program.
The department, the department of state police, a local law enforcement agency, or the department of natural resources may enforce this act.
Motor carriers under the jurisdiction of this act shall comply with all applicable provisions of the motor carrier safety act of 1963, 1963 PA 181, MCL 480.11 to 480.22, and all applicable provisions of the natural resources and environmental protection act, 1994 PA 451, MCL 324.101 to 324.90106, as well as any other applicable requirements of law.
A person who violates this act is responsible for a state civil infraction and shall be fined not more than $2,500.00. Fines collected pursuant to this act shall be deposited into the fund.
