§ 44. When applied. The provisions of this chapter shall not affect\nany proceeding or appropriation now pending for the acquisition of any\nproperty for the purposes of the canal system of the state of New York,\nand any such proceeding or appropriation shall be continued to\ntermination pursuant to the statute under which such proceeding or\nappropriation was instituted.\n
