Training of hunting dogs - License requirements - Regulation of field trials - Penalty for violations

(a) Any resident or nonresident who trains hunting dogs in this state shall purchase the appropriate hunting license, except when such person is competing in recognized field trials. (b) Raccoon dog field trials, retriever dog field trials, bird dog field trials, rabbit dog field trials, and foxhound field trials will be permitted only under rules and regulations promulgated by the fish and wildlife commission. The fish and wildlife commission is authorized to make all such rules or regulations, or both, in connection with the field trials as it may deem necessary to carry out this section. (c) Any violation of this section, or any violation of any rule or regulation promulgated by the fish and wildlife commission pursuant to this section, is a Class C misdemeanor and, upon conviction of the violation, shall be punishable by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).
