David McCleary Bio
Mr. McCleary joined Dozier Miller Law Group after spending five years at a firm serving the Piedmont and Triad areas in North Carolina. He currently practices in Dozier Miller's  family law department, focusing his practice on issues surrounding divorce, separation, and child custody. Prior to being admitted to the North Carolina Bar, David spent two years in Duquesne University School of Law Federal Civil Litigation Clinic and Bill of Rights Clinics. He was also selected for a public interest fellowship with the Allegheny County Solicitor’s Office and Family Law Court. Mr. McCleary has experience in both Federal and State Courts.. Mr. McCleary graduated with honors with a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Political Science from The University of Pittsburgh. He attended law school at Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, PA. While attending Duquesne Law, Mr. McCleary was awarded Outstanding Oral Argument during his first year and Certificates of Distinction in Clinical Work for the Federal Civil Litigation and Bill of Rights Clinics. David is an active member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Family Law Section of the Bar. Mr. McCleary currently serves on the Charlotte Civil Service board after being appointed by Charlotte City Council in 2018. The Civil Service Board evaluates and potentially approves applicants for employment, promotions and demotions recommended by the Chiefs of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Charlotte Fire Depatments.
