This includes the drafting of living trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance health care directives and other important estate planning documents. I also assist Successor Trustees who have taken over the administration of a trust due to death, resignation or incapacity. This can be a difficult task full of hidden issues and we help our clients navigate through the process. Finally, when there was a failure to plan or when problems arise, we assist clients with probate proceedings.. Feel free to contact me to discuss your concerns or issues in these areas. While direct face to face working relations are usually preferred, we can work with California residents in other ways if needed.
I began my career working for large law firms, moving paper, billing large sums over a lot of hours, moving money from one rich entity to another, dealing with politics, bureaucracy, and unhappy clients. Obviously, all of this made me extremely unhappy. This was not what I imagined when I went to law school. I just wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives.. One day, a friend of my mother asked me to update her living trust. The trust was almost 15 years old and there wasn't much to it. It didn't reflect the current law and it didn't reflect her current life needs. Further, she told me that her attorney never even explained to her what was in the trust. So she was learning everything from me 15 years after the fact! Worst of all, none of her assets were even titled in the name of the trust. This meant that all the time, trouble, and money she spent was a waste, since her family would still have to deal with probate after her death.. Because of my own problems in setting up an estate plan, and because I wanted to help my mom's friend (and others like her, I decided to start my own firm).. I figured I could make my law firm much better than most by just doing the opposite of what my mom's friend's lawyer did. This is how she described her encounter 15 years ago and how the process went: 1) She provided some limited information to the attorney; 2) The attorney did not ask many questions; 3) The attorney hastily prepared some documents; and 4) She signed the documents, put them away, and never looked at them again.. It's not a stretch to know that this isn't the kind of relationship that most people want. Thus, I sought to bring back the long-term, trusted relationship between attorneys and clients. So I came up with a new process and model.. The Zapf Estate Planners Model. Almost everything we do is based on a flat fee. No one likes to get billed for a quick email or phone call to an attorney. And I definitely do not like to send those bills and keep track of my time in six-minute increments. So I did away with that old, tired way of doing law. Feel free to contact me as you wish.. We want your trust to work for you. Too often people fail to change the ownership of their assets into the name of the trust. Too often attorneys fail to help their clients with this difficult process. No longer. It is our responsibility to supervise you funding your trust.. No longer will estate planning be a one-time transaction. When you hire us, that is when our relationship begins…for life. We offer free reviews of your plan every three years at no additional charge. We also offer a membership program (that nearly all of our clients participate in), which includes a yearly plan review and unlimited changes to your , please understand that estate planning isn’t really about you. After all, you will be gone when your plan takes effect. It’s about creating a plan of action that’s going to take care of those you love most.

First and foremost, I am Mason's mommy, and fur-mom to two adorable rescue pit bull terriers, Piglet (14) and Tyson (12). I'm a die-hard USC Trojan (Fight on!), a perpetual wonderluster, and in my spare time you can find me on a snowboard, yoga mat, or simply just exploring the great outdoors with my fam.. On a professional note, my legal practice focusses exclusively on Estate Planning - drafting wills & trusts, trust administration, wealth preservation planning, and elder law. I manage my own law practice, Tasch Law Firm, which is based out of Coastal Carlsbad, with offices in Sorrento Valley & Mission Valley, and satellite offices in Pacific Beach and Orange County.. I believe that every single person needs some level of Estate Planning, and it is my goal to make it easily accessable (from both a cost & convinience standpoint), and easily understandable. I know I've done my job when a client exclaims, "Wow. That was easy!" at the end of our meeting- it makes my day!
My practice is focused in Estate Planning, Probate, Trusts and Wills and Living Wills. It was an easy parallel move from all my work with financial planning, and after a few months of study I was ready to help people.. My guidelines for estate planning are to protect the estate from the ravages of debilitating diseases. The government will pay for your nursing home care without depleting your estate to nothing, but only if you plan it correctly and early. That is my primary goal for my clients after retiring as a Navy Captain, finishing thirty years Active and Reserve in March 2015.. After my Navy career, I went to law school at the University of San Diego. Being an Estate Planning Attorney is my second career.

The Law Offices of Michael Gaddis, APC is a law firm dedicated to helping distressed homeowners save their homes. Helping distressed homeowners was a natural progression for Michael Gaddis who is also a California NMLS licensed mortgage broker. In 2008 Michael Gaddis was busy assisting homeowners to refinance out of 2 and 3 year adjustable loans into 30 year fixed interest rate loans when lenders stopped stated income financing and 100% LTV financing. Since Michael Gaddis understood the ramifications of the inability for these homeowners to refinance out of interest rates that were adjusting from 6 & 7% "teaser rates" to 8 to 10% adjustable rates Michael Gaddis began to approach the legal departments of the various lenders in an attempt to find a resolution for these homeowners. Michael Gaddis has been helping homeowners ever since and now has successfully modified well over 1,500 home loans. What makes Michael Gaddis so unique is his amicable relationships with most lenders. These lenders respect Michael Gaddis' knowledge and ability to speak to them in their own "language", the language of underwriting and finance. Michael Gaddis' philosophy is simple, learn the policies, procedures and underwriting guidelines of every lender and then hold them to their own rules. Michael Gaddis is very proud of his accomplishments and posts many of his loan modifications in his "trophy case" on his website. Michael Gaddis also negotiates short sales and settlements on delinquent junior liens.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin and raised in Riverside, California, Julie A. Cardin, the daughter of an attorney, has been serving clients for more than fifteen years with special compassion and a rare set of skills that includes law, tax preparation and public accounting. She's proven to be an effective advocate for those who face audits by the Internal Revenue Service and the tax agencies of the State of California. Her skill and knowledge is further buttressed by her experience as a field auditor for the IRS. There, she learned to comb tax returns for anomalies, discrepancies, abnormalities, overstated expenses and understated income, learning all the while how to prepare returns for clients so as not to raise red flags in the first place. She also learned what IRS agents need in order to resolve a case and just how much room the law affords taxpayers to negotiate. She so impressed the IRS that they sent her out, at age 25, to lecture large gatherings of agents, CPAs and attorneys on the proper preparation of tax returns. Ms. Cardin earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona and went on to work for Certified Public Accountants in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties. Finding that accounting was not enough to occupy her restless intelligence, and still holding a day job, she enrolled in law school. National University, which later was absorbed into the Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, awarded her a scholarship. On her first try, in 1990, she passed the California Bar examination. Her law school brought her back to teach courses in taxation, community property and professional skills. Attorney Cardin is a member of San Diego's North County Bar Association. A CPA in California since 1992, she also became licensed in 2005 as a Certified Public Accountant in Nevada.
