I hired an attorney after opposing counsel stopped answering me emails about making arrangements to pick up my separate, personal property (like my pre marital bed, clothes, etc). Attorney said I could file for temporary spousal support (ex made 6x more than me), but never filed, despite my repeated (& documented requests). Fee agreement states I had to maintain a 2500 retainer, but a week after I raised serious concerns over the way my case was being handled, the attorney demanded a $5000 retainer to be paid within 2 weeks. The attorney knew I was in a terrible financial situation because of the significant financial control by my ex (i had an active protective order against him). I paid the $5000, then the attorney asked for another $5000 5 days before trial, despite the attorney also pressuring me into settling. The attorney then advised me to sign a final order that included vague language that opposing counsel is now interpreting to mean I could lose my separate property in a coin toss. I have refused to participate in a coin toss involving my separate property (like my cell phone and personal computer purchased before marriage), and now opposing counsel has filed a contempt order.   Location: Adams county Colorado So in early June we bought our first home. We went through the whole process of eviction for the squatters. Judge ruled in our favor. I'm now just trying to figure out if I need to wait the 10 days to file the writ of restitution, or if the 48 hours is enough. We're a single family who own no other rentals, so to my understanding, according to exemption 2, the 10 day stay of execution/waiting period doesn't apply to us?   I just moved. Current location: Wisconsin. Previous employer location: Colorado. I am a teacher, so I work ten months of the year but my contract allows me to request my pay be dispersed throughout the year. I choose to do this so I can rely on monthly income even in summer. According to my contract, my salary was supposed to be split evenly across 24 payments from September 1st 2025 until August 31st 2026. However, my school made a mistake and instead set my salary to be dispersed in 22 payments across eleven months instead, with the last paycheck being July 31st instead of August 31st. This means I will not be getting any paychecks in for the entire month of August. I did not find this out until today when I reached out to my school to find out why I wasn't paid August 15th. They looked into it and admitted it was their mistake. I now need to somehow pay all of my bills, rent, groceries, etc with no income for an entire month. I already live paycheck to paycheck.   Hi! Location: Saguache, CO I was cited by the Colorado State Patrol for speeding at 96 mph in a 65 mph zone under CRS [42-4-1101](tel:42-4-1101)(1). I have a court date in Saguache County on September 24, 2026. I am a EU citizen and I will be leaving the United States on August 26, 2026, so I will be back in Hungary before my court date. I will give the court a call about this next week, I do not want to leave this case to escalate of course. I might get a lawyer later. I really hope the court will allow me to attend online - do you think this will be possible? Should I be worried about getting stopped at the airport going home, not allowed to board? This is my first clash with the law ever, the only charge is the speeding. I know it was stupid, i know it was close to arrestable, it was unnecessary. Thank you!
