  Location: Colorado, El Paso County specifically Specified the county because this county requires special licensure (Heating Mechanic IV) to service gas appliances, when I started I asked about this and was told that we are allowed to work on the water heaters as we are employees of the owner and have the same rights as working on your own in your own home. We are told that when we have to replace a water heater or furnace to notify our manager of the unit and that they would then schedule an inspection through our licensed plumbing/HVAC vendor. But what I just learned is that this company never actually comes and looks at the install, they just take the serial number and sign off on it blindly with the handshake deal that they will be our exclusive plumbing vendor when needed. This is extremely concerning to me obviously. Unqualified people with minimal training working on gas appliances that can cause massive explosions, without even just the safeguard of someone qualified verifying that the work is safe for use. I cannot stand for this in good conscience and feel like I need to report it immediately, but I actually don't know what the most effective agency to report it to and concerned about retaliation when I do

  Location: Arvada Colorado For background my community was bought out by greystar management and they’ve implemented changes that don’t seem to fully agree with the lease. I had one payment bounce because I forgot to transfer the amount on time and they’re now saying I can no longer pay online. That was fine until they informed me the only option is cashiers check which my bank charges $20 for. In trying to avoid this I asked if I could pay in money order to which they say they no longer accept. I understand they have a right to demand certified funds after a payment doesn’t clear but my lease states that they accept money orders and cash in this instance. Here’s the language of the lease: We may, at our option, require at any time that you pay all rent and other sums in cash, certified or cashier’s check, money order, electronic payment, or one monthly check rather than multiple checks. It also states in the normal payment box that a money order is accepted. I was just wondering will I need to pay by cashiers check and incur a $20 fee just to pay my rent every month, or am I allowed to pay with money orders? The language seems a bit ambiguous and I’m not sure of the local legislation regarding this.

  Location: Colorado Hi guys. I’m in a bit of a pickle and would like some advice. Back in March I had 2 root canals on my front 2 teeth and had my crowns replaced. On that same day, I also had a “deep clean” for gum disease. Or so I was told. I was already still a little numb from the root canals so I didn’t really need any numbing for the deep clean. However, the deep clean took about 10-15 mins and I was not sore at all after. From everything I’ve googled, there is no way a deep clean( scaling and root planing) can be done in 15 mins. I’m mostly concerned about them telling me I have a disease and then lying about fixing it. I have contacted my insurance to send over everything that was claimed and she said she noticed that there were 2 things in the claim that can’t be done in one visit so that put up a red flag. Along with all of that… my new crowns are super rough, have a black spot right by my gum line and in bright light, the bottoms of the crowns turn brown. And my 2 front teeth are still super sensitive and I can’t bite down. I have addressed the dentist with all of these issues and essentially she told me the crowns will never be smooth, she 100 percent did the deep clean, the black line and sensitivity is most likely from the…

  I work for a company who is based in Ohio. A co-worker purchased a sprinter van from them that was licensed out of our Colorado offices. He sent a cashiers check and they said that they would send the title. Based on that agreement, he had some repairs completed that he was aware of before the purchase. This was in February or March. Almost immediately after those repairs were complete, more issues started popping up. He kept repairing them as he thought it was his vehicle. Still no title. Come to find out, there is a lien on the title through a Bank that has since been acquired by a larger bank that is not responsive to requests for the lien release. I expect that the previous bank had sent the lien release years ago but it was missed and never filed with the state. At this point he is completely underwater on this van and can’t sell it due to the title issues. The company he “bought” it from seems to place this very low on their priority list and has been slow to move or unresponsive the entire time. It seems pretty obvious that he could “return” the van and get his initial investment back but is there any chance that they would be on the hook for any of the repair costs? Location: Colorado/Ohio

  Location: Colorado. I currently live in workforce housing through a local housing authority. It's work-based rather than income-based but the condos I live in are unfortunately needing vacated by July 31st. Back in May I submitted a reasonable accommodation request after being diagnosed with cancer. I had just started chemoradiation, with chemotherapy and surgery still ahead of me. My oncologist wrote a letter explaining that moving during treatment would create a medical hardship which I delivered to the office along with the reasonable accommodation request form. I wasn't asking to stay in my exact unit forever. I requested either a temporary lease extension, a transfer to another unit, or some other reasonable accommodation that would let my family remain housed during treatment. What has me questioning things is the process. After I submitted my request, I never received any acknowledgment that it had been received. After waiting for a while, I went into the office myself and was told they were working on it and trying to find another unit. Then weeks went by with very little communication. I followed up again in June and was told they were waiting on legal guidance. After that, there wasn't much communication until we were very close to my move-out date. Now, just before my required move-out date, they've offered me a different apartments that is being vacated soon, which I genuinely appreciate and it sounds like it should be available soon.
