Location: Virginia. Trying to understand my options after an unusual arbitration outcome. I run a small e-commerce shop. I had a contract dispute with the marketplace platform I sell through — roughly $6,200, breach of contract, arising from how they handled a customer dispute and reviews. Their terms of service require arbitration, so I filed with AAA under the Consumer Arbitration Rules in April 2026. The case went the full distance. Document requests and production. A preliminary hearing. An arbitrator was appointed. Both sides filed written arguments, statements of fact, and exhibits under a scheduling order. I filed my response to their brief on August 13. The arbitrator granted them three pages for a sur-reply due August 28 and said he'd rule afterward on whether I'd get a reply. Today, August 19, AAA sent a letter saying it hadn't received the requested fees from the business, that it was declining to administer the case, and that the file was closed. It cited R-10(b) and said either party may now go to court. So apparently the case is over, with no decision, because the company didn't pay. My question is about Va. Code § 8.01-581.020 (from SB 227, effective this year). Subsection A says a drafting party that fails to pay required fees within 30 days is in material breach, in default, and waives the right to compel arbitration. Subsection C lets the consumer withdraw and proceed in court, and says the court shall impose sanctions. But subsection A's trigger language…

Location: Texas, USA My last job was full-time (40 hrs/week) and work-from-home. I provided proper notice and remained in compliance for the entirety. The last shift I worked was on the final day of the pay-period so I should've been paid for a full two weeks (80hrs). Before I was able to clock out at the end of my last shift my access to company resources was removed. I informed my supervisor of the issue but they stated it wouldn't be of any concern. Fast forward to payday and my paycheck is short 75% of my take-home pay. I have not received ANY information at all as to what entity withheld any pay and/or for what reason(s). I immediately reviewed my paystub and the hours are correct as well as the intended final pay amount. However, the deposit amount listed vs the actual depost was short 75%. I contacted my previous supervisor and informed them of the issue. They sent an email to HR and copied me on it. I thought maybe my provided work-from-home laptop could be preventing my final pay from being distributed. I informed my supe and HR in the email that I have not received any emails, mail, packaging, or otherwise to determine how to return the laptop. I’ve been a freelancer makeup artist for commercial photo shoots and events for 20 years. In my industry, there are no full time/part time positions as they hire freelancers for each gigs. I’ve been separated for 5 yrs and the partner and I always had a flex schedule for my two young kids but I had them 60/40. I had them Fri&Sat every weekend for over 4 years till last Nov when I asked for it to be every other weekend. I recently have been taken to court, with stipulations with the flex schedule and solid Holiday plans which has not finalized and we have a follow up court coming in 2 weeks. Location: New York. Hello everyone, I have an ongoing criminal case currently and recently it has been another court date for me. I’m a college student and will be going back to school very soon, my next court date is during my school time. At my most recent court date, I asked my public defender if I’ll have to be there with them next time. They said if there is any difficulty with time to contact them, I told them that in earlier times when I tried to contact them through phone calls I didn’t receive any response, then they told me to contact them through texting. As soon as I checked on my schedule, I texted them in terms of messaging the phone number they left on their card that I wouldn’t be able to attend my next court date due to school reasons. It has been a day or two, and I haven’t gotten any responses back yet. They left two numbers, one for office and one for cell, in case, I messaged both. The message to the cell is colored blue and tells me that my message is delivered but not read yet. The office message is shown as green and doesn’t show whether or not it’s read or not. Is there anything I should do as of now or anything I could do? My next court date is approximately half a month from now.

I was on the location: George Washington bridge in New York on Friday when a car was trying to enter my lane because it had missed its exit. it hit the left side of my car. my car only sustained scrapes scratches and a dent but the other guys car was really scraped and it’s rear door was damaged. the thing is I only have a permit as of right now because I’m in the process of trying to get my license.
