(Sorry if the flair is wrong) location: ohio I need help to figure out what i can do legally for my friend For the past six years i’ve (15f) had to watch my best friend (15f) deal with her alcoholic mom. Yesterday her mom attacked her for the first time and i don’t know what to do. For context her dad is out of the picture and she has two younger brothers to two different dads. Something was changed and now she only needs to serve 30 days with 2 years probation with counseling and no alcohol starting in two weeks. Last night her mom came home drunk(as usual) and the father of one of the youngest brothers was there at one point. She was fighting with him and eventually called her boyfriend to come over. I’m not sure what happened after but i received texts from J in the morning explaining what happened after she stopped texting. She told me that her mom had barged into her room and started yelling at her for no reason saying she was going to stop supporting her sports and paying for her phone. Location: Ohio A family member was involved in an accident while driving a vehicle that did not have active insurance. The driver only had a permit and received tickets related to the accident. There were no injuries, and there is a court date coming up for the tickets given. The vehicle owner received a letter from a subrogation company representing Allstate requesting around $17,000 for damages and asking the BMV to suspend the driving privileges of both the driver and owner however the driver only has a permit. The letter claims the driver was responsible, but the police report does not clearly state fault. This appears to be a subrogation request, not a court judgment. What are the best next steps? Can claims like this be negotiated? Should an attorney be involved for the court date or insurance claim? Any advice from people who have dealt with Ohio uninsured accidents would be appreciated.
