He received a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from the University of Alabama majoring in finance. He was recognized as an Outstanding Senior in Finance and was inducted into the Financial Management Honor Society and Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honorary. He is also a member of the Birmingham Bar Association where he has served on the Executive Board of the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section, the Board of Directors of the Solo/Small Firm Section, and the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers' Section.
