Larry was recently recognized by Super Lawyers ® as one of the Top 50 lawyers in the entire state - for the third consecutive year. According to Super Lawyers’ website, "Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis." Less than 5% of Alabama’s 16,000+ lawyers were selected. This humbling recognition followed shortly after having been selected on the vote of other lawyers as a "Top Lawyer" in 2012 as published by Birmingham magazine. In fact, 2013 marks the sixth consecutive year that Larry has been chosen for the distinction of being a Super Lawyer (r).. Larry King was born in Leesburg, Florida, on July 27, 1962. He was admitted to the Alabama and Georgia Bars (1988), and to the Florida Bar (1989). He is admitted to all state and federal trial courts in Alabama; all state trial and appellate courts in Georgia and to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia; all state trial and appellate courts in Florida and to the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida; and to the United States Court of Appeals for Eleventh Circuit. He graduated from Florida State University (B.A., English-Business Administration, 1984), after being admitted on a National Merit Scholarship, and from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University (J.D. 1988).. In law school, he was a member of the Order of Barristers, an articles editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, a member of the moot court board, and a member of the trial board. After graduating, he served as a law clerk to Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice C.C. Torbert, Jr., and to Chief Justice E.C. Hornsby. After practicing in Orlando, Florida, for a brief time thereafter, where he represented major manufacturers and insurance companies, Mr. King returned to Birmingham, practicing briefly on behalf of manufacturers and insurance companies, but representing people from the plaintiff's side since 1993.. A lifelong Methodist, Larry and his family are members at Asbury United Methodist Church. His service there has included the introduction of God's Garage Sale, an annual event where donated items all are given away for free – the same cost as God's grace. A few years ago, he and his wife gave up his retirement fund and established the Hands of Christ Fund at Asbury, a ministry that provides financial assistance to those in need, helping them to break free from poverty by furthering educational or employment goals; several participants in that program have been able to graduate from college with aid from the Fund. His wife and two children were baptized at Asbury, and his two other children were confirmed there. Larry credits Asbury pastor, Rev. Mark Lacey, with being the most positively influential person on his adult life. Presently serving as Asbury's Missions Committee chairperson, Larry continues growing his faith under the incredible and dynamic wisdom of Rev. Kip Laxson.. Professionally, Larry is proudest of his service on behalf of the injured people of the state. Having secured over $5,000,000 in verdicts on behalf of workers fired for having exercised their rights to workers' compensation benefits – including record jury verdicts in at least 4 Alabama counties, and having published several articles in leading legal publications in that area of the law, he has been one of Alabama's leaders in protecting the rights of those hurt during the course of their work. Two of his scholarly articles, Fired in Retaliation for Claiming Workers' Compensation Benefits in Alabama, 24American Journal of Trial Advocacy 539 (2001) and What Triggers the Application of Alabama Code §?, 33 American Journal of Trial Advocacy 1 379 (2010) (with Christina Van Der Hulst), were cited as authoritative in the Alabama Pattern Jury Instructions (3d ed. 2012), on the topic of retaliatory discharge. He has likewise championed the rights of those injured outside the workplace, as well, landing millions of dollars in jury verdicts for accident victims, helping insure that they are adequately and properly compensated for the losses that accompany devastating injuries.. Larry also gives professional time for causes he believes in. For years, he has given countless hours at no charge by speaking to high schools and church youth groups on the variety of consequences that drunk drivers will face, both criminally and civilly. This work has been in conjunction with his founding of Lawyers Against Drunk Driving; that organization is on the web . He also piloted the beginning of the Asbury Lawyers' Forum, a group of lawyers that periodically meets as a group to offer free legal advice to the public at Asbury United Methodist Church.. In March 2010, Larry was recognized in b metro, The Magazine of Birmingham Living for having "reached the highest levels of ethical standards and professional excellence" in its article, "The City's Top Legal Minds." Those accolades dovetail exactly with his peer reviewed rating, which notched perfect scores in both legal ability and adherence to professional standards. Larry was selected to the Board of Directors of the Alabama Association for Justice for the 2010-2011 term.

I have been in practice for 17 years representing consumers in chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcies. I have been a partner in two separate large volume firms. I have decided to open my own firm focused on one on one client representation. I want my clients to feel that they are a person and not a case number. I am not a cookie cutter one size fits all bankruptcy firm. My focus is on the individual. I will work directly with my clients to help solve their unique problems and to give them the financial freedom they deserve.

There are many things about my work that I enjoy but the part that is most satisfying is taking a bad situation and turning it into a good situation.. I often have clients that come in very upset over a situation. Maybe they are facing foreclosure. Or dealing with an abusive debt collector. Or their credit reports are so incorrect that they are losing their security clearance or they are losing a mortgage over it. Other times clients are dealing with the constant pain of injuries from a car wreck.. They are frustrated and upset to have to deal with this problem. They don't have accurate information on their rights and options. This is exactly where the insurance companies, debt collectors, and mortgage companies want you to be.. Unsure of your rights and unsure of what action to take. You see they assume that you:

Gibson practices in Beasley Allen Law Firm’s Personal Injury and Consumer Fraud sections, concentrating in actions against those who negligently or intentionally harm others. His clients include individuals and small businesses. He has participated in dozens of jury trials in his legal career, many of which have resulted in large verdicts for his clients.. Notable Cases. Gibson has been appointed to serve on the Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC) for multidistrict litigation (MDL) surrounding a massive data breach affecting customers of Community Health Systems Inc. The litigation is consolidated under Judge Karon Owen Bowdre in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Alabama. In January, Community Health Systems Inc. (CHS) admitted data from its affiliated physician practices and clinics was breached. Data taken included patients’ names, addresses, birth dates, social security numbers and, in some cases, telephone numbers and the names of employers or guarantors. An estimated 4.5 million individuals who obtained services from CHS-affiliated physicians in the last five years may have been affected.. In 2005, Gibson received a $2.9 million verdict in a securities fraud case in Henry County, Alabama.. Professional Affiliations. Gibson is heavily involved in the American Association for Justice, and is past president of the organization. As president, he was one of six national officers representing AAJ's 60,000 members. He has served on several key committees in AAJ, including the National Finance Committee, Public Affairs Committee, Budget Committee and Membership Oversight Committee. He served as chairman of the PAC from 2015-2016, and as a member of the AAJ Executive Committee 2015-2016. He also has served as president of the Alabama Association of Justice.. He was named in February 2017 as the president-elect of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. The association aims to promote fellowship, learning and networking among trial lawyers throughout the 13 southern states it represents.. Gibson also has been active in the Montgomery County Bar Association. He served as president of its Young Lawyer's Section, was a member of the Board of Directors for several years, and served as president of the organization in 2005. He also has served as president of the Montgomery Trial Lawyers Association and as president of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation.. Additionally, Gibson is a member of the Alabama State Bar, and is the Bar Commissioner representing the 15th Judicial Circuit. He also serves on the Alabama State Bar Elections, Ethics, and Government Relations Committee and the Alabama Legislative Business Litigation and Complex Litigation Study Committee.. In January 2017, Gibson joined the Fellows of the Alabama Law Foundation, established to honor lawyers who have been members of the bar at least 10 years and who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their profession and to their community.. In November 2015, Gibson was inducted into membership for the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Membership into the American Board of Trial Advocates is by invitation only following a rigorous nomination and voting process. There are approximately 7,300 members of ABOTA in the United States; only 109 attorneys in Alabama are members. To be considered for participation in the Alabama Chapter, one must have tried to conclusion a minimum of 10 civil jury trials, be nominated by an existing member and be approved by 75 percent of those members voting on membership. Criteria evaluated include exceptional jury trial skills, civility, professionalism and integrity.. Awards. The Alabama Association for Justice presented Gibson with the ALAJ Spirit Sword / President's Award in 2009. Each outgoing president of ALAJ recognizes a member who during his or her years as an officer and particularly as president provided special spirit to him/her. However, Gibson was selected by the organization as the first recipient, because he "embodies the spirit of a trial lawyer and our association.". Additionally, Gibson was presented the Joe Tonahill Award by AAJ's New Lawyers Division for his outstanding service to the civil justice system. He also was the 2016 recipient of the AAJ Wiedemann & Wysocki Award. This is an award given to AAJ members who have made outstanding efforts to advance AAJ’s political outreach projects and priorities, and support AAJ’s Political Action Committee (PAC). The award is named in honor of Fritz Wiedemann and James Anthony Wysocki, two New Orleans-based attorneys and active American Association for Justice members who were traveling on an AAJ assignment when they died in a tragic plane crash. This award recognizes members who have carried on their legacy of commitment to the principles of the civil justice system and AAJ's mission.. Gibson was selected to the National Trial Lawyers: Top 100. This is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state or region who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense trial lawyers. Selection is based on a thorough multi-phase objective and uniformly applied process, which includes peer nominations combined with third-party research. Membership is extended only to the select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state or region who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature and public profile measured by objective and uniformly applied standards in compliance with state bar and national Rule 4-7.. In 2014, Gibson was selected as the recipient of the Firm's first Chad Stewart Award. This honor was created in memory of Beasley Allen lawyer Chad Stewart, who passed away unexpectedly in April at the very young age of 41. In addition to being a dedicated lawyer who worked hard for his clients, Chad truly modeled Christ in his daily walk. The Chad Stewart Award was created to recognize an attorney who best exemplified Chad’s spirit of service to God, his family and the practice of law in the service of “helping those who need it most.”. In December 2010, Gibson was named one of two Beasley Allen Litigators of the Year. He has also been selected for the Best Lawyers in America list and Super Lawyers list for consecutive years.

Honza Prchal is an associate of the firm whose areas of emphasis include mass torts, especially pharmaceutical and medical device work, and also general litigation. He has spent at least half his time on mass torts even before he started working with W. Lewis Garrison, Jr. in 1997, and he continues to enjoy helping clients navigate and understand an esoteric and confusing area of law where it is far too easy and far too common for clients to feel like numbers, rather than individuals with claims. Since Honza had to go through immigration himself and help his wife through US Immigration, he is highly motivated to try and help clients get on with their lives with less of the unique dread a large impersonal bureaucracy like an MDL proceeding with Plaintiffs’ Management Committees can engender. Honza is a member of the American Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi, the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, a life member of the Antient and Honourable Edmund Burke Society at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Federalist Society, where he was twice an officer at the University of Virginia School of Law and was an officer in the Birmingham Lawyers' chapter for several years. He was a founding member and officer of the International Civitan Club of Metro Birmingham Chapter of Civitan International and also a member of the ACTION Civitan chapter. He was captain of the Moot Court Team and was Dicta Editor at the Virginia Law Weekly. He served as English language press secretary for Vaclav Klaus, Finance Ministry, Czech and Slovak Federative Republic, 1991. He has been active in choral music since grammar school , has represented the firm at Croonin' for Critters and in trivia competition and used to be a competitive fencer in all three weapons, but especially epee. Honza volunteers at All Saints Episcopal Church, his daughter’s school and at a number of Bar Association and alumni events, but his legal pro bono work is mostly with the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program “Attorney for the Day” program where he can be found just about every month trying to help pro se claimants through the vagaries of the court system in Downtown Birmingham. Past volunteer work that he found interesting was interviewing veterans for the library of Congress. Since some of his own family was liberated by American troops in World War II and he saw the effects of their post-war departure on his family’s own country and on that of his friends,’ he found this particularly rewarding. He also did some pro bono work for the Birmingham Fencing Club.
