Since 2012 Ms. Makaimoku has served as a volunteer mediator with the Mediation Center of the Pacific, where she mediates domestic matters. She is also a member of the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club and a regular donor at the Blood Bank of Hawaii. In 1991 Ms. Makaimoku was honored by the Honolulu Police Department with a Certificate of Merit following an incident in which she assisted her father in pulling a young child from a swimming pool. Her father rendered first aid and CPR, thus saving the young child’s life.. Ms. Makaimoku is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association (“HSBA”) and the Family Law Section of the Hawaii State bar Association (“FLS”). She is also a member of the Hawaii State Judiciary’s Access to Justice Commission, where she serves on the Pro Bono Committee..
