Location: Douglas county, Kansas Hello, I’m looking for some advice on handling a legal situation. My biological parent passed away. An Heir search company located me and wrote an affidavit recognizing me as an heir. My parent’s other child was working with an attorney, once the heir search found me, he changed attorneys. The affidavit was sent to the new attorney, a few days later the new attorney filed to petition of administration. I was listed as a “person of interest” and it said that I did not submit any substantial evidence to prove myself as an heir. They did not submit the affidavit. Someone had told me that all I needed was to have an attorney submit the affidavit to the court and show to the hearing, I was told a few hours max. As I’m trying to find an attorney, one attorney told me they don’t care about the affidavit and they want to start from scratch and expect it to take about 20 hours I’m trying to understand if I’m going to truly have an attorney just submit the affidavit or if I need to have someone redo the work, along with any other advice.

Location: Kansas My ex and I have been sharing custody of our two dogs for almost a year. My ex let me know that he got a new job and is moving so we have to decide what to do with the dogs. He told me that he has a bill of sale for the first dog because he is the one who went to get the dog as I was out of town but not the other dog. The dogs are under my name at the vet, I order their food/prescriptions, and they are licensed under my name with the city we live in. I am unsure what I can do to keep them both. My concern is him having the bill of sale of one of the dogs. He is okay with splitting them as well but I don’t want to split them as they are bonded pretty well. Location: Kansas This is long but bear with me. For the past year I’ve been working at a FedEx location here in the state as a second job. The entire time I’ve worked here I’ve been being harassed by the same woman who used to be in a manager-type position. Everything started after she found out my day job is in broadcasting. The first conversation we ever had she asked me what I do and asked if I’m sure I’m not an intern because she’d never seen me on tv before. From there she started calling me the wrong name on purpose every time we would speak. Then it was loudly applauding every time I come into work because I missed one day and saying things like “oh you actually showed up today.” Whenever we’re waiting on work I lay down on the couches with my jacket over my head. One time she pulled it off of me and pulled my hair in the process to “wake me up” to let me know there was work, but I don’t even go to sleep most times and I have friends who work there who let me know that. After this a rule was created that we can’t lay down anymore. When I did it anyway, she asked me to get up so she could sit down when there were plenty of other seats open. Location: Kansas Hello, I had a company install a fence last year in December. Part of that included a “sprinkler protection fee” stating if they damage my irrigation system. They would do their best to fix it but if it was too difficult. They would hire a professional to come fix it and the fee would waiver any damages I would have to pay to fix it? During the installation they hit a pipe and let me know. I ran my irrigation system and didn’t find any issues so I moved on. My neighbor called me to let me know one of his sprinklers was damaged and water was as just pooling out of the ground. I’m wondering how to fix this and who would be liable? I’m guessing my neighbor would have to file a claim against the fencing company and the company would be responsible for damages. Is there anything that I would need to do? I’ve already reached out to the company to let them know and have them offer to fix it.
