Since becoming licensed to practice law in 2006, Katie has amassed an impressive amount of experience in both the practice and the business of law.  Since joining the law firm of Heimerl and Lammers in 2009, she has built a dedicated family law practice with four family law attorneys and staff who assist a variety of family law clients each year.. Katie has represented hundreds of clients in civil litigation cases in Minnesota, the majority of which have been in family law matters.   She has experience in virtually every aspect of the litigation process including appeals, jury trials, bench trials, summary judgment hearings, motion practice and ADR, including Early Neutral Evaluations.. She is a rule 114 qualified neutral and a qualified family law mediator.  She is certified as an SENE and FENE mediator.  She has served on the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission and is a volunteer for Tubman.  She also serves as a Ramsey County and Hennepin County volunteer mediator.  She is also a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Hennepin County Bar Association, Minnesota Bar Association, and Douglas K Amdahl Inn of Court and is a former member of the Minnesota Association for Justice. She serves as a mentor attorney for the University of St. Thomas mentor program.  She has presented various CLEs at the Hennepin County Bar Association on the topics of bankruptcy and divorce and discovery issues.  She has authored articles on School Choice in Minnesota and Third Party Custody matters.  Katie is on the bench and bar committee at the Hennepin County Bar Association working to bring the members of the bench in contact with members of the bar through education. She also serves as a volunteer investigator on the 4th Judicial District Ethics Committee.. Katie has built a thriving family law practice with four dedicated family law attorneys and staff.  She believes that the practice of family law should be civil and treats all parties with respect even in the most acrimonious of disputes.  Katie handles hundreds of family law disputes annually.  She has received compliments from clients, the Court and opposing attorneys as to her professionalism and competency in handling family law cases.. Katie has settled many cases using mediation or the ENE process and when cases can't settle, she has not hesitated to take cases to trial on a variety of legal issues including child custody modification, spousal maintenance, property division, parenting time and custody, and division of assets and debts. Katie also appears periodically before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and has argued the topics of child custody modification, child support, parenting time, spousal maintenance, domestic abuse and property division to the Apellate Court.. Katie lives in Bloomington with her husband Mike, their two children.  She enjoys running, working out, cooking and reading mystery novels.

Katie (Kathryn) M. Moody (previously Kneissel) is the owner of Moody Family Law, PLLC in Hastings, MN.  Prior to owning her own firm, Ms. Moody worked an associate attorney at the Howard Family Law,  various legal aid services as well as in private practice where she practiced exclusively in the area of family law specifically focusing on issues regarding high-conflict divorce, negotiations, paternity, child custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, antenuptial and post nuptial agreements, post-decree matters and qualified domestic relations orders.  Ms. Moody has also worked closely with victims of domestic violence and advocated for victim rights in conjunction with local shelters and advocacy programs.. Ms. Moody is a lifelong resident of Minnesota and has close ties to the community.  She grew up in Scott County, graduated from Burnsville High School, and is currently a resident of Dakota County.  Ms. Moody did some spend some in Wisconsin as she received her bachelor's degree of Univeristy of Wisconsin - River Falls.  In her free time she enjoys being with her dogs, going off-roading with her Jeep, ATV and side-by-side, camping, and spending time with her husband, friends and family.
