Tom was born and raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and graduated from Goodrich High School. He attended Ripon College for undergraduate studies, where he stayed busy not only studying, but playing baseball, golf and hockey. Tom obtained his law degree in DeKalb, Illinois at Northern Illinois University in 1996.
