My name is Nicholas Gurney and I am a trial attorney handling catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases with a focus on defective and unsafe products and trucking crash investigation.  I also serve as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida, where I am honored and blessed to teach advocacy skills to the next generation of legal professionals.  Born and raised in Florida, I've made it my mission to represent regular people harmed by powerful corporations, massive insurance companies, and oppressive government.  In my career, I have secured favorable jury verdicts in both civil and criminal cases.  I am very proud of this fact because some attorneys rarely ever try a case in front of a jury.. This matters because insurance companies and large corporations know which attorneys are willing to go to trial.. Perhaps more importantly, they know who can do it well.. To hone my skills as a trial attorney, I attended a top Legal Studies program at the University of Central Florida.  There, I studied both the art and science of trial advocacy.  After graduating from UCF with Honors from the prestigious Burnett Honors College, I attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law where I graduated Cum Laude with Dean's List Honors.  At UF Law, I donated more free legal service hours than any other graduate--an accomplishment for which I was honored with the H.G. Blechman Pro Bono Service Award.  I worked hard at UF, earning the highest grade in six (6) different courses and degree certificates in Community Service, Criminal Justice, and Pro Bono Legal Work.  To this day, I am one of only a handful of attorneys ever to be inducted into both the National Order of Barristers and the Florida Blue Key National Honor Society upon graduation.. Since graduating from UF's law school, I have helped secured favorable results for injured clients including single-event jury verdicts of $1.4 million (Palm Beach County) and $1.3 million (Collier County).  Even so, I never stop learning.  In 2016, I became one of the youngest graduates of Gerry Spence's famed Trial Lawyer's College in Dubois, Wyoming.  For my professional accomplishments, I have been recognized by Best Lawyers' Ones to Watch (2020), Super Lawyers' Rising Star (2020), National Trial Lawyers' Top 40 Under 40 three times (2018, 2019, and 2020), and the University of Central Florida's Top 30 Under 30 (2017).. I currently assist in coaching the UCF Trial Team, of which I am a proud alumnus and former national championship competitor.  In my spare time, I enjoy woodworking, exploring the outdoors with my puppy, and spending time with my niece and nephew, both of whom are wise beyond their years..
