Kevin Archer

1915 Northshore Drive, Suite 5 , Benton , Arkansas 72015
Practice Areas: Divorce & Separation
My interest in law started as one in theory as a student in Political Science to one in practice. Through volunteer work prior to law school, I saw firsthand where there was great demand yet absence of counsel for various legal issues.. While at the UALR Bowen School of Law, I worked with other law students in the Consumer Protection and Delta (Family Litigation) Clinic. Our work in the delta regions of Arkansas showed me some of the unique challenges in counties with fewer resources, and both the need and feasibility for more affordable access to legal services.. After receiving my license, I had the opportunity to work with Kristin Riggan as an intern in 2017. I was offered an associate attorney position in August of 2018.

Kristy Sims

Firm: Lion Legal Services
2800 Percy Machin Drive , North Little Rock , Arkansas 72114
Practice Areas: Family
I’m Kristy – born and raised in the Arkansas Delta. My parents are from Aberdeen and Humphrey, two miniscule towns that if you blink while driving past, you’ll miss them. I’m the first attorney in my extended family as far back as anyone can remember. We were raised up with the belief that we only hire lawyers as an absolute last case scenario because they were so cost-prohibitive. It’s sort of like going to any place that doesn’t list prices – if you have to ask, you can’t really afford them, right? That’s one of the reasons I’m happy to work at Lion Legal. We provide flat rate fees for a variety of services, so you know what you’re going to pay without even having to pick up the phone (and give everybody your life’s story.). My grandparents were a huge part of my life. I was at their house every chance I got, reading on the porch swing, playing in the dirt, or riding around looking at the cows. They instilled deep Southern Baptist values in me that I’ll always carry. We treat people right, we love everybody, and we pray for a whole list of folks every night.. My grandmother was the best person I’ll ever know. Mary B (the B stood for a name she hated, so I’ll leave it out lest she smite me) taught me so much, but most importantly, to always stick up for those that don’t have somebody to help them. We were raised to do what’s right and to help those who need it, and that’s a big part of why I became a lawyer.. Among many other things, she was the best negotiator I’ve ever seen, and I’m proud to say those genes passed straight through to me. I wish y’all could’ve seen her. It’s a shame she wasn’t an attorney herself, but fortunately I learned a ton from her, and love using those skills to help whoever I can.. I understand the struggles a lot of people in Arkansas face because I’ve faced those same struggles. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I wasn’t related to anyone that I could name-drop to get a job or get out of trouble, and we were definitely the poor relations on every side of the family. This is why I love working here – we cater to Working Arkansans who need help and come from a background similar to mine. You don’t have to be rich for us to help you, you don’t have to know somebody, you just show up and we’ll roar to your rescue.. I had a pretty great childhood that fostered a love of learning, an intuitiveness of right and wrong, and I thrived on figuring out how to move gray areas to a place that benefits people I care about. I think any kid with dirt under their feet and a little freedom is enjoying life, and that segued into a well-rounded adulthood.. I’m married to a pretty great guy that I met in high school band and we have the self-titled Best Kid in the World – although we’re hitting those teenage years and we may snatch that title from him yet. I want to leave a legacy for him like the one my family left for me – of fairness, of Christian values, of helping people that need a hand. His childhood is a lot like mine was–he loves to read, but also loves to romp around outside with various animals. He’s a wild child and loves the country life.. We still live in the Delta, and although we’ve moved a little North and a little West, I still live within an hour’s drive of the place I called home for 30 years. We have a random assortment of animals—I guess I never quite did learn to let go of a farm—but even though we’re up early and asleep late with running our son to what feels like every sport in the world (and band, the same one his daddy and I met in), making sure our ducks and rabbits and all our other animals are happy, and hanging out with our two favorite little girls ever (our nieces), I wouldn’t change a thing.. Kristen Komander

Firm: Kristen Komander Law
34 E Center St, Suite 20 , Fayetteville , Arkansas 72701
Practice Areas: Family, Appeals
I practice family and domestic relations law with the highest level of client service, from simple wills and uncontested divorces to complex high-asset and high-conflict cases. I balance my practice by representing children in divorce and custody cases. I am certified as an Attorney Ad Litem and have special training in dependency-neglect and Arkansas DHS cases. I practice in Washington, Benton, Madison, and Carroll County.. I graduated law school in 2015 from the City University of the New York School of Law and began my legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office. In this fast-paced and high-stress environment, I honed my trial court skills while helping crime victims achieve justice in the courtroom.. After moving to Arkansas, I continued my representation of crime victims while working at Legal Aid of Arkansas where I worked with victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, and brought those skills into private practice at Bogart Small & Associates before joining Leslie Copeland Law & Mediation in Fayetteville.. I love living and practicing law in Northwest Arkansas. When I’m not in the courtroom, I’m usually out hiking in the Ozarks, biking around Fayetteville, and exploring all that Northwest Arkansas has to offer.. I’m proud to be a part of the most exciting legal team in Northwest Arkansas, where we keep you, the client, at the center of everything we do!

I have been a "People Lawyer" for over 40 years. Truth is  being a People Lawyer is all I have ever wanted to do since I decided to go to law school. I was fortunate to join a firm that had a long history of People Law with high legal practice standards. The Baim Law Firm was started in 1936 by Gene Baim and Gene was my mentor. Gene was at that time a retired Judge and was practicing with his son, Kenneth Baim. I became a partner 2 years later. I know a good thing when I see it and I am still here after 40 years. Gene is gone and only Kenneth and I are left of the original crew from when I started but we have 4 associates practicing with us. Over the years I have represented thousands of people and wouldn't do anything else.. We have a talented, knowledgable staff who share our "People Law" values. Our firm has worked hard to keep up with technology and remain easily accessible to our current clients and new clients as well. Check out our web site or our You Tube channel to determine if we might be able to help you!

Kimberly Canova

Firm: Canova Law Firm & Mediation Services
217E. Dickson St. , Fayetteville , Arkansas 72701
Practice Areas: Mediation
I have been a full time practicing attorney and mediator since 1992.  My focus is in two areas:  (1) Mediation of any type of dispute between 2 or more parties; and (2) Domestic Relations.. I was raised in Crawford County, Arkansas and attended Alma High School.  Go Airedales!   I then graduated from Hendrix College in 1989 with a B.A. in English. Go Warriors! Lastly, I graduated from the University of Arkansas, School of Law, Fayetteville, in 1992.  Go Razorbacks! I love my community and serving others when they are in crisis.  Empathy, knowledge of the law, the ability to think on my feet and untold hours in a courtroom trying cases has made me pretty tough. I usually meet people at one of the worst times in their lives and do my best to help them get to the light at the end of the tunnel, intact and looking forward to tomorrow.. I have been married since 1995 and have three children, Paolo, Sammy and Gabriella.  We enjoy arguing amongst ourselves and none of us are ever wrong, especially me.  Our other hobbies are hanging out with good friends and trying to live in the moment.  We are also Christians and are very active in our church community.  My husband and co-worker, Tony Canova, grew up in Bentonville, AR and also graduated from Hendrix College. We have been married since 1995! Tony and I recognize how lucky we are to keep our family together and realize watching the demise of families on an all too frequent basis has definitely played a role in keeping our family intact.  Because we witness the sadness, pain, frustration, anger and fear of people going through a divorce or a custody action, we make a conscious effort to follow the Golden Rule of "Do unto others..." These are the particular arease, under the umbrella of "Domestic Relations" that I handle, both as a lawyer and a certified mediator:. I particularly enjoy mediation. After more than a quarter of a century of watching people and lawyers tear each other apart in the legal process, most particularly in the courtroom, working with both parties to resolve problems is much more satisfying to me, as a mediator, and the participants. Mediation is a much better way to approach issues related to a family. We determine what issues need to be addressed and brainstorm, or "problem solve," ways to resolve each issue and handcraft a resolution to everyone's satisfaction. The alternative, that being lots of lawyers, witnesses, trials and a legal process that can go on for sometimes a year or more, oftentimes results in an expensive "cookie cutter" result that usually leaves both parties unhappy and with a lot less money after paying for all that legal work. Simply put, mediation works.
