Hi! I’m Kerrigan, Arkansas native, born and raised in the small town of Calico Rock – which I affectionately refer to as “The Hills.” Unless you’re from the area, most people don’t know that Calico Rock is in North Central Arkansas. Almost all my large family (15 nieces and nephews large), still live in or near my hometown, so I visit “the Hills” regularly!. I attended and graduated from the only college I applied to – the University of Arkansas. Starting around junior high, being a lawyer was my career choice. My fate as an attorney was guaranteed once I chose my double majors of communication and Political Science, because those majors limited my choices to the law or education…. And I definitely don’t (I didn’t then and don’t now) have the patience to be a teacher.. One of the only cliché things about me is that I took a “gap year” after completing my undergraduate degree, moving home and working in the legal field to “be sure” about my law school plans. Even commuting over an hour each way that year, in my position at one of the few law firms within a 100-mile radius of home, could not dissuade me from law school (and law school loans)! That’s the kind of tenacity everyone deserves in their lawyer, and the tenacity I have in spades.. My “Street Law” experience that year – a term referring to common legal issues such as criminal defense, personal injury, family law, estate planning, and real estate – foreshadowed my landing at Lion Legal.
