Andrew Cornick

Firm: Cornick Ndlovu
910 Littlepage Street , Fredericksburg , Virginia 22401
Practice Areas: Criminal Defense
I have devoted my career to the practice of criminal law.  From my early days in law school, when I clerked at one of the most prestigious criminal defense law firms in Richmond, to the present day.  When I graduated law school I accepted a position with that same firm — the first offer extended to a law clerk in over fourteen years.  I learned a great deal from those lawyers and enjoyed success in matters ranging from traffic infractions to serious felonies such as aggravated malicious wounding and attempted murder.  I got around, too, representing clients in the courts of over thirty Virginia jurisdictions, as well as in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.. Feeling the call to public service, I took a job as prosecutor for the City of Fredericksburg in 2006. During my time with the City I prosecuted nearly every imaginable type of case and I routinely advised and trained the police officers with whom I worked.  I also served as a special prosecutor in Hanover, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties in certain matters.  In February 2009, I completed a course of in-depth training in the prosecution of online crimes against children.  I was only one of eighty or so prosecutors selected nationwide for that course of study.. I am admitted to practice in the state courts of Virginia and in the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. I am a member of the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, and serve on the Judicial Selection Committee and the By-Laws Committee.  I also serve as Chair of the Sixth District Committee of the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board.. I represent defendants in criminal trials and appeals throughout Virginia.. Email me at  or call me at to discuss your case.

Clients often come to me in the worst moments of their lives, after being injured through no fault of their own or an encounter with law enforcement. It’s my goal to guide them through the legal process with a compassionate and relatable approach, while zealously protecting their interests. As lawyers, we stand in a unique position of trust with not only our clients, but the justice system as a whole.  I take these obligations seriously and feel privileged to serve our clients to the best of my abilities.. When I first meet with clients, my primary focus is to simply listen to everything they have to say.   By understanding my clients' lives, challenges and aspirations, I can better recommend options, work with clients to implement sensible solutions, and leave each client with the sense they had an advocate who truly cared about them. Many of our clients report feeling relieved after initial consultations largely because they were able to talk to a professional who can listen intensively without interruption.. Extensive courtroom experience, detailed fact investigation, and a command of the law are often the difference between winning and losing at trial.  But the best lawyers know that every case need not end up before a jury.  Many cases can and should settle, and these settlements require a different, but no less important, skill set.   A personal injury lawyer must know his client's capacity for risk and advise that client accordingly.  Where a prolonged jury trial may be the best recommendation for one client, arbitration or mediation may be the better option for another client. Each case, like each client, is different.. For over 34 years, I have been advocating for individuals to get them full and fair compensation for the medical costs, pain and suffering, permenent injuries and disfigurement, and life disruption they have been forced to endure through no fault of their own.  Whether representing pedestrians struck by reckless motorists, motorcyclists suffering from catastrophic injuries caused by the carelessness of drivers, or families who have lost loved ones by negligent truck drivers, I take on each client as if I were representing a member of my family, confident that through hard work, vigilence, and a dedication to excellence, Charnoff Simpson will continue to achieve great results for deserving clients.
