I joined Northwest Justice Project in December 2018. I am working on the Skagit Justice Project, which focuses on providing wraparound services to sruvivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and sex trafficking. Most of my practice involves family law issues (divorce, parenting plans, child support, etc.), in addition, we provide legal services on any issues impacted by being the target of sexualized violence, including housing, consumer, education, and more.. As I look back on almost 30 years of practice, I have loved being a lawyer.  I have experience and success in a variety of fields, which has made me more well-rounded compared to those who emphasize only 1 or 2 areas of law.. I have obtained several rewarding and high settlements for clients in employment law, divorces, personal injury, civil rights and police misconduct cases. I obtained the highest jury verdict in Spokane County ($3 million) against a Sheriff's office for misconduct against my clients. I am a well-rounded trial attorney who has litigated a wide range of cases, including taking cases through mediation, arbitration, and if needed, trial and appeals courts. I have done thousands of both bench and jury trials.. In law school, they told us in orientation that a high percentage of lawyers wish they did not go to law school and become a lawyer, so I am in the minority - I would not change a thing.  The law is for me.  I am a "lifer", which means I will practice law until they drag me away.. I decided to become a lawyer after the Major League Baseball peoples did not draft me in the first few rounds when I was 18.  I pitched several "1 hitters" (yes, 1 hitters, not "no hitters") in high school and for American Legion at ages 16-18, however, I lacked a 4th pitch (slider, curve, and knuckle-curve was all I had).  Anyway, I also loved playing basketball and football, but when old age set in (age 24+), I began playing softball and have really enjoyed that over the years, until really old age set in (age 40+), and now I don't play as much.  Trying to pick up golf cuz I see a lot of older people out there swinging the clubs, but the last few years I have focused on Tennis.  I like martial arts, sports on t.v., great movies, great food, and being happy.  I had not traveled around the world much, until I met my wife, Hong, who has taken me to China many times now (wow, it is really cool).  My focus outside of work is my daughter, JoJo and her life!  Anyway, I still spend a lot of time doing work because I am obsessed with deadlines, client problems and being the best lawyer I possibly can.

I was born in the Philippines and came to the United States when I was twelve years old. I have always wanted to serve as a role model for other immigrant women and minorities and open as many doors for others as were opened for me.. I attended the University of Washington School of Law in 1998, graduating in 2001. At the UW I was active with the Student Bar Association. I also interned with the King County Prosecutor’s Office at the Maleng Justice Center and with the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office through graduation. At Pierce County, I had the opportunity to argue criminal appellate cases before Division Two of the Washington State Court of Appeals, and to be first chair in misdemeanor trials during the summer. Then I joined the City and County of Honolulu Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecuting attorney and practiced criminal law, including an assignment in the Career Criminal Unit where I prosecuted sex crimes, some cases involving child victims.. I moved back to Seattle and started practicing family law in 2006 with a veteran family law attorney. I became the senior associate and handled almost everything for the solo practitioner with whom I practiced. I came to work for the DuBois Cary Law Group in 2012. In support of our external and internal clients, I have taken on the hybrid role of Associate Attorney and Business Manager.. My husband and I are big football fans and support the Huskies and the Seahawks. We have two adorable cats, George and JoJo. We love to travel and explore new places. After working 13 years as a U.S. customs broker, Jon went back to school and received his Juris Doctor from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, OR, where he was a member of the school's Moot Court Client Counseling regional team.
