When I started this practice in 2009, I thought I knew all about being a lawyer. I had spent thirteen years at a prestigious international law firm in Boston. I had worked on complex cases involving large companies in many industries, from pharmaceutical to health care to seed companies. What I did not understand then was the true power of being in a position to help ordinary people facing challenges that seem extraordinary to them. I have had the opportunity to help families make sure the people they love the most are protected, small businesses avoid catastrophic lawsuits, entrepreneurs launch their dream without exposing their families to liability, hardworking people protect their right to be paid and treated fairly in the workplace, and more.. Here is what I learned these people have in common: They are facing a challenge in their lives or their businesses that is unfamiliar to them. They do not know what questions to ask. In many cases, they do not have a great experience being heard, or feeling like someone has their back. They may have called a few law firms and, instead of finding solutions, been made to feel small, unimportant, or more overwhelmed.. I've learned that it doesn't have to be that way. We may have seen your problem a hundred times before, but I and my team work hard to remember that it is new to you. We do not have "big" clients and "small" clients- we have clients, whose issues are all important to us. Our mission is to give you the best advice, advocate for your interests, help you ask the right questions, and make sure you have the information you need to make the decisions that are best for you or your business. So that when you come out on the other side of whatever you are facing- and you will- you will have not only a resolution but clarity about how you got there, and how you can avoid that particular problem in the future.. Not sure which way to turn? Give us a call- we'd really like to help.

You did a very fine job for your client.” Read the transcript from the case.Successfully prevailed in a highly contested estate case involving a $1.2 million trust, a 20-acre farm, and a restaurant and the land it occupied on behalf of a client who was sued by her two brothers after her parents passed away.Obtained a $950,000 settlement in a difficult personal injury case involving a client who was injured when the wheelchair she was in pitched her onto the sidewalk. The jury found the client suffered from the intentional infliction of emotional distress and awarded damages against all three defendants totaling $92,800 with interest. I am a Massachusetts-licensed attorney dedicated to serving the video game, software, multimedia and entertainment industries--developers, publishers, etc. As the founder of Overclocked Legal and a lifelong enthusiast of software, video games, music, and media, I will pursue the advancement of my clients' needs with energetic dedication which springs from a genuine interest in my clients' products and success. Those are my main areas of interest and I also have a well-rounded education in entertainment law in general. This includes but is not limited to copyright and trademarks (registration, licensing, etc), and writing contracts along with negotiation of their material terms. Because my main passions are tech, music and gaming, a client in any creative or digital content medium will find me especially enthusiastic in helping them reach their goals. I also offer business services.. Though transactional law is my main area of interest, I am also well-trained in litigation and all manner of practical skills including oral advocacy (trial and appellate), negotiation, trial practice and preparation, client-centered lawyering, and written advocacy. I have tried a full case before a MA Probate and Family Court, and have successfully argued motions, performed discovery, and counseled clients in civil matters.. Throughout school, I developed a deep understanding of and affinity for advanced Constitutional law. This is especially true of the First Amendment, as I decided at a very young age that I wanted to spend my life protecting ideas and expression from censorship. Samples of my writing on the subject can be found at .. When not providing outstanding client service, I enjoy gaming, heavy metal, music theory, and guitar-playing that gets less and less passable every year.. Concentrations:. Intellectual Property. Attorney Emily McNeil practices exclusively in the areas of estate planning and probate administration.. During law school Emily worked as a law clerk at a local law firm. Emily recognized early on her ability to comfort people through the estate planning process. She focused her studies on estate planning, estate and income taxation and also had a lesser concentration on business entities, including corporate taxation.. Emily graduated from New England Law | Boston in May 2006, receiving her Juris Doctor degree. She was admitted to practice in Massachusetts later that year.. Following her admission to the bar, Emily worked for several years as a staff attorney for the financial advisory firm GW & Wade, LLC, located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. There Emily provided clients with advanced estate planning and estate tax advice, as well as income tax planning and preparation. For several years following her departure from GW & Wade, Emily provided estate planning and income tax preparation and advice privately. In 2011 Emily was thrilled to join the dynamic Boston firm, Charles River Law Partners, LLC, formerly Vaughn-Martel Law. Emily practiced as the firm’s sole estate planning and probate attorney for nearly five years, during which time she was recognized by Boston Magazine’s Super Lawyers, making the lists of ‘Rising Stars’ and ‘Top Women Attorneys’ in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.. A proud graduate of Framingham State University, Emily served as a Director of the Framingham State University Alumni Association for several years and was a visiting lecturer in the Department of Economics and Business Administration from 2012 to 2015, where she taught The Legal Environment of Business.. In 2016 Emily founded Heritage Law, P.C. Emily strives to provide the highest quality legal service and advice to her clients while at the same time being extremely mindful of her clients’ wishes and of the fact that estate planning can be a delicate subject for many and that the probate process is often quite difficult for those going through it.
