Charles J. Hausmann is a Milwaukee native who attended Marquette University High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison law school in 1971.He and his colleague John F. McNally, opened the Hausmann-McNally, S.C. law firm in 1973. The firm, now called McNally Law Offices, has been in downtown Milwaukee for over 30 years. It employs over 80 people in eight offices.Hausmann has tried a large number and wide variety of cases relating to injuries from car, truck and motorcycle accidents, also cases involving unsafe vehicle design, medical malpractice, wrongful death and serious criminal cases.In his community life, Hausmann has worked with the inner city Milwaukee community where he grew up. The projects include the development of the Victory Over Violence Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and serving on the board of the West End Development Corporation, dedicated to improving Milwaukee’s west side, providing affordable housing and attractive business properties.In 1989, Attorney Hausmann started the “People’s Law School” to inform community residents of their rights as consumers and tenants to help them fully participate in the justice system. The program, developed and financed by the Hausmann-McNally Law firm for five years, was subsequently taken over by the Wisconsin Association of Minority Attorneys (WAMA) in 1994. He also established a special “Economic Summit” along with CYD to inform people of their economic rights on issues including credit, finances, mortgages and tenant rights.He was named “Attorney of the Year” and “Attorney of the Decade” by CYD for his work in the community.Attorney Hausmann has been a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin law school on trial practice and a guest presenter at many professional conferences on a variety of topics, especially jury selection—which is an area of special interest. He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar and the American Association for Justice, a lifetime member and former board member of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers.He and his wife Jean have five daughters, Julia (a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana), Issa (a Ph.D. student at NYU and Yale law school graduate), Kelly (a physical therapist in Denver, CO), Kate (art therapist in California) and Briget (a business manager in New York City).
