Location: Utah Hello and thank you to all who read this I started a new job almost a year ago and this is something that has bothered all of our crew ever since this has been a “policy” in the company. Little bit of backstory, I work in trade so I’m in construction sites all the time and our main office is usually about 45 minutes to 2+ hours away from the job sites. We all get paid hourly and we have to log our “drive time” for when we’re driving from site to site to be able to track our hours which I understand. However, my issue rises when they pay us different wages (minimum wage) during our return drive time back to the main office. Nobody ever knew that would be the case when they first got in to the job. We all had to ask HR about why we were getting paid differently on our drive time and it was because it was “policy”. I personally never read anything in the entire employee guidelines and policies that stated that employees will make a different wage at different times of their job. It was never put in writing. It was never said to me by management or HR during my onboarding process. I only realized it after my first paycheck when I noticed I was making minimum wage for a portion of my hours. His case has been pushed out a few times, and without going into a lot of detail the police department is refusing to release the police report to his defense attorney. Location: Utah Worked at a daycare for 3 years. Was verbally abused and had no support with hard behaviors the kids had. Expected to restrain kids when they get in fights, not being trained in any of that (also restraints are illegal) Had multiple kids with autism in the different classes and we were never taught how to help them, only to sit them in high chairs or time outs for a long period. Location: Utah, I have a roommate that is causing me extreme mental distress. So much so that it has caused me to hospitalize myself and I do not feel safe being in my apartment. We just signed a year long lease and I just don’t know if I can make it through the lease, and I don’t have a second location (like a friend or family) I can live at for free while paying the rent for the apartment. My property managers have told me the only way for me out of the lease is having someone sign on under my name which has its risks, or I can break my lease by paying $4,000 which I definitely don’t have right now. This was over a trivial household incident and reflects a pattern of escalating physical and verbal aggression. Parental Cover-Up & Intimidation: When police arrived on the scene, the mother lied and claimed no physical abuse occurred. She intimidated the child into remaining silent when questioned, so no police report was taken and no arrest was made. Impact on Household: The minors stayed with us for two days after the incident but were brought back. Their 18-year-old sibling also lives in the house; he wants to leave but stays solely to try to protect his younger siblings.
