My hobbies include hiking and backpacking with my wife, daughter, and two golden retrievers, collecting first edition books about the Southwest, and playing bluegrass music on the guitar and dobro.

Austin is married and is the proud father of seven children. Austin was born and raised in Magna, Utah where he graduated as the co-Valedictorian of Cyprus High School in 2001. After graduating high school, Austin attended the University of Utah, where he graduated summa cum laude as the Outstanding Scholar in Business Administration with a minor in Mandarin Chinese. From there, Austin attended Ave Maria School of Law, again graduating summa cum laude and first in his class. Austin was chosen by his classmates to speak at graduation, and was awarded the St. Thomas More award for excellence in character and academics.Austin began working at the age of 12 at a local greenhouse, as well as mowing lawns and other odd jobs for neighbors. At 18, he started working for a framing crew, and later left that job to serve as a missionary for the LDS Church in Taiwan, where he learned Mandarin Chinese.
