As an Alabama native, one life lesson that has stuck with me since growing up in Madison County is the significance of helping others in need. I completed my first triathlon in 2003; racing with Team in Training, raising money for the American Cancer Society. Through the ups and downs of life, I continued triathlon training and ultimately finished two full, Ironman-distance triathlons in 2012 and 2013.
