I come from a family of Lawyers. My father practiced law in Lake Charles, LA from 1958 until his passing in 2002. I have been practicing law for 30 years. My career began in Texas, but I settled back Lake Charles, LA in 1996. I still maintain my Texas license given the close proximity of the Texas border to Lake Charles.. In the early years of my practice, I handled cases in all areas of the law. However, a significant part of my practice has always been in the field of injury law. And I have been fortunate enough to be very successful in this area. Several of the injury awards are on my web page.. As I practiced injury law, I also handled countless Bankruptcy and Family Law Cases. In 2005 I chose to broaden my practice into the area of criminal law and began handling drug offense cases. It wasn't long into my criminal practice that I realized there was a need for lawyers who thoroughly understood how to defend a DWI or DUI case. Soon thereafter, I began the process of learning the ins-and-outs of DWI law. I ultimately joined the National College of DUI Defense which requires extensive study into this particular area of law. To further hone my defense skills, I got trained and certified in administering the Standardized Field Sobriety Test just like law enforcement officers. This gives me the ability to evaluate their administering of the test and go toe-to-toe with them during cross-examination should your case goes to trial.. To sum it up in a nutshell, I am a dedicated lawyer. I am proud of what I do; I am also aware of the serious responsibility bestowed when a client entrusts their case to me. If you care to discuss your case further, feel free to give me a call.

909 Poydras Street Suite 1100 , New Orleans , Louisiana 70112
Practice Areas: Environmental and Natural Resources
Andrew Jacoby has spent the last ten years working with people and communities impacted by environmental and public health threats. Whether it is from landowners whose land is contaminated from oil and gas waste, or water contamination from a nearby gas station, or community groups who feel that the local or state government just isn’t doing its job to protect them, Mr. Jacoby has stepped up to help enforce rights built into the law. This includes oilfield contamination, leaking gas station storage tanks, hazardous contamination from dry cleaners. But it also includes where lawsuits to enforce the Public Records Requests to state agencies, and fights to require local governments to follow their own laws with respect to zoning and land use issues.. Mr. Jacoby has quickly become known as “rescue counsel” often being brought into existing litigation to minimize past defeats and provide clients with a fresh, aggressive, and skilled approach to their matter. Mr. Jacoby’s strengths include thorough research and plainly worded legal advice to the client. Mr. Jacoby serves as a volunteer board member of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, and volunteers with the GreenARMY. He writes legislation aimed to protect Louisiana’s most vulnerable communities, including those along the state’s “Cancer Alley,” the small towns along the Mississippi River which are burdened by industrial operations that often don’t comply with public health safeguard rules.. While in law school, and as a member of Tulane Law School’s “Katrina Class,” Mr. Jacoby won the Brian P. McSherry Award for the student demonstrating the greatest dedication to community service. He worked as a student attorney for Tulane’s Environmental Law Clinic, where he fought against landfill expansions, among other work. Mr. Jacoby occasionally testifies at hearings in Baton Rouge on problems related to abandoned oilfields, air pollution, water pollution, and other topics. He recently received the Profile in Courage Award from Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany Parish. Mr. Jacoby’s hobbies include softball playing and football watching.

Missing the vibe of the city, she returned to New Orleans and received her B.A. in Public Relations from Tulane University in 2006, the first semester after Hurricane Katrina. Moreover, her article, Juvenile Justice, was also published in the American Bar Association Student Lawyer Magazine in February of 2013. She was awarded the Best Direct Examination by the Trial Advocacy Board of 2011.. Andrea’s emphasis in her law practice stems from her own childhood as a product of divorce. As she grew up her curiosity was piqued as to why she could not live with her father all the time. So, while attending law school she decided her focus would be family law and child advocacy. In 2010, Andrea worked for the Honorable Mary Devereux at the 22nd Judicial District Court where she learned divorce methods, community property settlements, co-parenting guidelines including visitation, custody and support, and prenuptial agreements. In 2011, Andrea clerked for the Honorable Nancy Amato Konrad at Jefferson Parish Juvenile Court where she learned the importance of rehabilitation of minors in order to provide them with a chance to become productive members of society. Furthermore, she gained advocacy experience in juvenile criminal defense. Upon entering the legal industry Mrs. Potter joined a New Orleans Firm, Venezia & Associates in 2013. Then she and her husband decided to move to Mandeville, and she opened a family law practice.

During my second summer at LSU Law, I was recruited by and worked as a summer associate at the New Orleans firm Montgomery Barnett. Because I can afford to select the matters I work on, my clients know I’m genuinely interested in their situation(s). I’m active in legal leadership roles. As a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) Legislation Committee, I help determine whether the LSBA will speak for all Louisiana attorneys in supporting or opposing pending legislative bills. My practice is fairly evenly divided between state and federal courts, and since 2010, I’ve sat on the Board of Directors of the largest chapter (New Orleans) of the Federal Bar Association. I also sat on the National Board of Directors of the Younger Lawyers Division of the FBA (2011-2014).. I was a scholarship track and cross country athlete at The Citadel, in Charleston, South Carolina. Since it opened in 2010, I’ve been a part owner of a running shop (Varsity Sports) on Magazine Street. I’m also a partner in a New Orleans brewery which opened Uptown in 2017. Every Easter weekend, I produce the professional aspect of our city’s Crescent City Classic 10k run; I work year-round with agents and professional athletes from all over the world. In May of each year, I produce a fun event called the Tchoupitoulas Barathon. I’m also a member of The Round Table Club.. I live in Uptown New Orleans with my wife Melissa and our daughter Ellis.
