Amanda practices criminal defense and also provides entrepreneur's / small business legal services by providing concierge-level services for business formation, trademarks, copyrights & important contractual agreements.. Early on in her career as a trial attorney, Amanda discovered a passion for helping other lawyers and aspiring lawyers improve their craft, and I built a reputation as an educator on a variety of topics, including DUI defense, trial techniques, legal ethics, attorney wellness, and productivity. Amanda worked as a law professor for several years prior to opening my AJB Law firm where she combines both trial skills and talent for speaking and teaching,. Amanda’s experience in education provides strength in reducing the complicated and difficult down to the simple and actionable—for clients, opposing counsel, the judge, and the jury.. Amanda’s educational experiences started when she led the Criminal Defense Clinic and taught Trial Advocacy part-time. Later, she became a full-time law professor and law school administrator and taught courses that helped prepare students for success in law school, on the bar exam, and in practice.. Amanda directed the Internship program where she developed and taught a course focused on competencies and foundations for practice, and provided training to attorney-supervisors in best practices for mentoring and guiding externship students.. Amanda continues to train practicing attorneys by regularly teaching CLEs for attorneys focused on mentoring, self-care, and accepting feedback.. Building off her passion for helping others reach their goals and succeed in their careers, and after opening several small businesses, Amanda expanded her legal services to help other small business owners with the protection of their businesses and brands.. Amanda is currently developing several courses and materials that will provide community legal education for pre-law and law students, as well as pro-se litigants that need to represent themselves in court.. Amanda loves learning and leadership. She is a proud Bar Leadership Institute alum and served on the Member Assistance Program Taskforce and the State Bar Professionalism Task force tasked with redesigning learning objectives for the required professionalism course for first-year lawyers in Arizona. Amanda is affiliated with the National College of DUI Defense, National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and the ABA Sections on Business Law, Criminal Justice, Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, Law Practice Division, Intellectual Property Law, Solo, Small Firm, and General Practice Division, and the Forum on Communications Law

Firm: Law Office of Alyson M. Foster, PLC
Practice Areas: Family
Alyson Foster is a native Arizonan, born and raised in the East Valley. She grew up in Tempe and Mesa, within ten miles of her current office, and she and her brother attended Mountain View High School in Mesa. Her parents went to Chandler and Tempe high schools, attended ASU, and became teachers– her father teaching at McClintock High School and her mother teaching in the Mesa Public School system. Both sets of her grandparents lived in Arizona as well and her grandfather was a professor at ASU. While most of her grandparents have passed away, her paternal grandmother still resides in Tempe and recently celebrated her 92nd birthday.. Alyson admits that she was a bit of a black sheep in her family because she chose to attend U of A instead of ASU. Alyson earned both a Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology and a Juris Doctorate in Law at U of A, graduating from her undergraduate studies Summa Cum Laude and from her Doctorate program Magna Cum Laude.. After graduating from law school, Alyson moved to California for a brief time.. While there, she took the bar exam and passed and was admitted to the California State Bar. Alyson missed Arizona, however, and wanted to raise her children near their extended family, so she moved back to the Valley in 2005 and obtained her license to practice law here.. Upon moving back to Arizona, Alyson held positions with several large law firms in the Valley and learned to practice law in a “trial by fire” setting. She was forced to work long hours and follow strict firm policies. The office procedures were always out of her hands and she had little control over which cases she accepted and rejected or how she handled representation of the clients. Ultimately Alyson’s role also shifted away from direct representation of the clients and more toward the role of a salesman and office manager. None of this was conducive to the type of representation she believed the clients deserved or to the type of personal, family life she desired.. While Alyson believes clients were attracted to the large firm advertising and the “beyond aggressive” representation slogan, they generally preferred the no nonsense, honest approach with which she handled their cases. “I don’t make promises to clients that I can’t keep and I believe it is my duty to assist clients in weeding out issues that can and should be settled from those that are worth ‘fighting for’.”. Alyson is now a partner at Aslamy & Foster and can provide the type of representation she believes is in the best interest of her clients. Alyson’s clients benefit from the big firm experience she obtained, while receiving the dedication and attention only provided by the intimate setting of a small firm.
